Cox’s Yard, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Sunday 7 May 2006 A review by Karen Wilson

This small venue was full of atmosphere for my second outing this tour. Jon Amor provided great support and he was
followed by a brilliant performance by Robin, Davey, Pete and Dave.
At this point in the tour, the band really is playing so well. Favourites like ‘Day of the Eagle’ and ‘Bridge of Sighs’ are
treated to some brilliant improvisational playing from Robin, giving them a fresh and vital approach. The newer songs like ‘Go My Way’ are real "movers" that are blistering in their sound. Dave
has never sounded better on bass, Pete's drumming meant you just couldn't stand still and Davey's fantastic soulful voice has just the right feel for the songs.

My personal favourites were ‘Roads to Freedom’ and ‘Victims of the Fury’ - it's just been so fantastic
to hear them live after all this time - thanks to the band for including them in the set list - you made me a very happy woman!!
The crowd were extremely appreciative and the encore of ‘Lady Love’ and
‘Daydream’ brought this gig come to a very rousing end. More please lads - same time next year?
Postscript:
It would be great if ‘I want to take you with me’ [from ‘LOOT’] could be included in a set list next time. I think this would be fantastic live - because it would lend itself to some good
improvisation - and I reckon it could become a classic live song like ‘Daydream’.

Ed’s Note: Must make a quick mention of supporting artist Jon Amor, fresh from his short set on Friday night at The Mean
Fiddler.
Showcasing material from his brand new album ‘Unknown Soldier’, Jon gave his usual 110% performance in front of the packed audience at Cox’s Yard.
Many of the songs on this fine
recording will be known to Trower fans after over one year ‘on the road’ opening for Robin and the band.
It’s a great great record and, for me, better anything put out by the likes of James Blunt et
al. So get yersel online and order a copy from Jon today here!

Frank and Lyn with Davey. OK so I’ve got some red eye retouching work to do here ...
