I saw Robin in the 70's on many occasions including the wonderful performance at Reading Festival (amongst the flying beer cans) and when he toured with the John MIles Band (they were hopeless!)

I took two of my children, now aged 19 and 16, to see him last year (The Mean Fiddler and Cambridge). They wanted more and came last night with some of their friends and loved it.

Robin was in terrific form. I cannot imagine him playing better, utterly brilliant. The sound balance was better than the Mean Fiddler and Cambridge; the vocals were also at their best. The band has blended very well and now has an instinctive understanding.

Postscript: Robin has always been part of my ‘Who's Who’ entry. The Editor once phoned me up and asked “is he a Poet?” I replied “I suppose he is really”!

Ed’s Note: Just to confirm [and on the basis of having previously seen the band at Nottingham, Southampton, Bilston and Manchester], I have to say the band’s Mean Fiddler has to be the best show so far on this tour!

The audience’s enthusiasm for the music and the performance brought out the very best from all four musicians.

It was a truly blistering show with the solo section at the end of ‘Too rolling stoned’ really taking over from ‘Bridge of Sighs’ as the number which took the whole show onto a completely different level. Bravo, bravo!
