Wilbarston Hall, Saturday 29 April 2006 A review by Mike Thompson [at Bilston too!]
Robin Trower returned in triumph to The Robin Rhythm & Blues Club, Bilston on 29 April 2006. We were treated to a
Robin serves up a hundred per cent plus on all performances. However, a stunning ‘Roads to Freedom’ (Personal Favourite) and ‘Day of the Eagle’ that morphed into ‘Bridge of
Sighs’ produced quite awesome guitar phrasing.
Superb renditions of ‘Victims of the Fury’, ‘Go my way’ and ‘Another time, another place’ with Davey Pattison giving it full throttle and the
immaculate Dave Bronze on bass and Pete Thompson on drums driving it all forward. This must be the tightest band on the planet!
Robin continued this inspiring performance at the Wilbarston Hall which is very close up and personal. It’s the nearest
thing to having Mr Trower playing in your living room. The bends and sustains on ‘Daydream’ were absolute bliss.
I was lucky enough to shake hands with Robin and thank him for all the brilliant music.
Long may he reign! Both halls were packed to the rafters. Robin still has some UK gigs to go if you want to see a real master of the Stratocaster, get out and see this excellent musician and his sidemen NOW!
