Living out of Time Live reviewed by Jerry Ewing, ‘Classic Rock’ magazine

For his undoubted pedigree, Robin Trower’s stock in rock circles is too low these days. Admittedly, he pays as much attention to the UK as it does to him but when he played in London last year the fire inside him still burned deep.

This live album, recorded last March at the Crossroads Festival at Germany’s Rockpalast – on Trower’s sixtieth birthday – is a fitting tribute to his talent.

Often derided as a Hendrix copyist, his sound has always been more steeped in the blues, as the emotive ‘Daydream’ suggests. And the driving sound of ‘Too Rolling Stoned’ and the exquisite ‘Bridge of Sighs’ prove the old boy can still cut pretty strong mustard. 7/10.
